Steve Christie Biography

The first few words remind you a little of Johnny Mathis, and later you'll swear there's some Orbison peeking through those heartfelt notes. Couple those sounds with a purely romantic melody that reminds you of your first slow dance under the stars and you'll be listening to the heart and soul of Steve Christie.

Steve's showmanship is upbeat and romantic but there's a lot more. The experience of over thirty years of singing professionally has taught him how to tune into the lover that lives in us all.

Steve's musical talents may have roots in his genes. His father was a drummer during the Big Band Era and played with the likes of Tommy Dorsey and Artie Shaw. But Steve's desire was to sing and he was singing professionally as an opening act for The New Beats, Herman's Hermits and Sonny and Cher as a teenager. His stepfather was a career military man, and Steve ended up in Okinawa during his senior year in high school. This was the height of the Vietnam War. So Steve became the lead singer for a USO band called The Notations. "Terry" a song he wrote and recorded n his living room went to number two on Armed Forces Radio. That got the attention of a publisher named Buddy Killen in Nashville, Tennessee and led to four years on the talent roster at Tree International. (Now SONY Tree).

Steve learned his business skills in Nashville when he was owner of two-hotel food and beverage operations with over sixty employees for six years, one of which was the famous Soundtrack Restaurant and Lounge on Music Row. Steve purchased the Soundtrack after hearing he'd always have a job with the "New Owner".

Since getting out of the restaurant business Steve has been recording radio and television jingles for clients like Pillsbury and Holly Farms. And singing on album " Of Thee I Sing", The official music of the "500th anniversary of the discovery of America" and the only music sanctioned for the US Pavilions at the Worlds Fair in Seville, Spain. This album was in the top fifteen contenders for three separate Grammy's.

During Steve's career he has been on tour with Ray Charles, Crystal Gayle and George Jones. He's also performed with Ray Stevens, The Supremes, Brenda Lee and Jim Stafford, just to name a few. He has played literally hundred of venues all over the US and Asia.
Steve currently has an album, released in Europe call "Beaches and Ballads" on New Country Records, London England. (Distributed by SONY).
